back on the blog part 2

Okay ... what happened in the last few months? Eastertime was great on Patmos, and I managed to find my brother Henk able and willing to stay with Panormitis so he could stay a bit longer. As Sophia, and Daphne had to go back to school. I broke my foot on Agia Irini in front of Maria and Soso's house , kala krasia!! the last thing any one needs , but in our situation this was a catastrofie!! When he returned on the 25th of may we were soooo happy. My foot stilll in plaster for another 4 weeks and after that they taped me in for another two weeks.( It now has given problems to my other foot as well, complications.) Past his birthday where Daphne came unexpected home and woke him up as a surprise, went out to give hem a nice massage, while my brother was in our flat hanging up a few of his beautiful photographs, mainly from his first exhibit " Karnagio". When we got home he was very happy seeing his work on our walls, he was really touched by the collage that Sophia and me made of pictures that he shot throughout the years of Daphne and Sophia. We had his favorite food for dinner and after that went to Alexis Hariziou, a total surprise for him, he even got to talk with her after the show!! We past some very nice days in The Hague as they always organize different festivals during the spring/summer, the weather was nearly each day fantastic. On the 28th of June Sophia and he went back to Patmos, so all in all, he spend like only one good month in The Netherlands, not too bad!! Daphne and I joined them two weeks later on the 12th of July, as Daphne still had school and I had another appointment in the hospital for my foot. We had a wonderful summer where he saw a lot of his friends and where he was enjoying the sea. Sleeping under the trees in his hammock for a couple of hours, pickinick's with the girls, who gave us a lot of their time. Nearly each day he would go snorkeling for sea urchins and then gave them away some where, as we was not allowed eating them each day. The best memory I have of this is when he promised to father Elias from Evangelismos to bring him some and for all the nuns. Well, we were laughing about it that Sunday, he meant it really serious. So that day Jeff our friend from NY took him to "his secret place" where he had seen a lot. They came back 2 hours later with .... you won't believe it... more then 150 sea urchins divided into three huge plastic bags. So we had to run to Evangelismos in our bathing suites as they were closing the gate at 18.00. Believe me, it was hilariously, the whole scene of us in our beach clothes handing over these enormous bags to the nuns, who looked so surprised. The sunday after we went to Evangelismos and after the mass, you could see all the nuns coming from their little corners in church looking for Panormitis and whispering words of thanks and" did you catch them all youself" and "how did you do that?" It was just such a good way of leaving Patmos. At least for us, I do not know how it is for all the sea urchins lovers, as I am afraid that there wont be any next year, thanks to Panormitis!!! We flew back to Amsterdam on the 13th of October, so in total he spend more then 3 and a half month on Patmos this summer, not bad at all. Thanks to all the people that gave time, love, and cared for him during this time. It will never be forgotten, we will treasure this summer for ever. Thanks to you dear people who made it possible for us doing all the nice extra things!!! He felt sorry for not being able to have seen all of his friends and wrote a few words for the Patmos Newspaper. It took him hours to write this little piece of text so I hope that Kostas and Smaragda printed it in the following edition..

Back to these days....we had the scan last Sunday and the first impression of that came last Monday. The news is not good, but that is something we were expecting,  because Panormitis changed completely during the last, let say one month.  The tumor has spread out to his left side of his brains, so that explains his change of abillities. Now we are waiting for Monday, to meet up with the team of doctors at 14.30 in the afternoon. Let's all hope that there are still options for therapies to choose from. Today we had a good day, Astrid came here and we walked on Kijkduin beach for a while as the weather was so mild 16 degrees!! We hadn't been out for days, so it was very welcome!
